Support of Tres Dias, Vida Nueva, Kairos and Kairos Outside.
Our church members are involved in programs that are based upon the Fourth Day movement, especially Tres Dias (Three Days). Other such programs include Cursillo and Walk to Emaus. These are long weekends designed to develop leadership in the church through a series of talks and table conversation and interaction – and lots of fun, laughter and tears, food and music! These are often life-changing moments in the lives of those who attend.
Vida Nueva is a similar weekend for young people, although usually shorter by a day. Although the program is a little different (because teens are different from adults!), the purpose is the same: to bring the life of Christ to individuals in such a way that they are motivated to serve him with joy and strength.
Kairos ministers to those who are incarcerated and Kairos Outside to those (usually women) who have loved ones inside jail and prison. The Kairos and Kairos Outside programs are also modeled after the Tres Dias weekend, although the circumstances of incarceration call for different formats – particularly inside the correctional facilities.
The New Paltz (NY) CROP Walk is an annual event sponsored by the Christian churches and the Jewish Synagogue. It is a five mile walk that raises money for Church World Service. A portion of the money stays in the New Paltz area to help with hunger issues.
Each year the Pregnancy Support Center of Ulster County provided baby bottles which we use to place our spare change, bills and checks. This is a very effective (and visible) way to give our support to our belief in the sanctity of life and our opposition to abortion. We also support the Pregnancy Center as part of our missions budget (see below.)
Ben Antzak provides excellent sound and video for our worship services and other special events at the church. We record our services each Sunday and post sermons. Click here for messages from our church services.
